Journalism has reached a point where media organizations have become more likely to invest in online news operations in the last decade. However, An Nguyen's research begins by assuming that they do this not because they want to invent or fully utilize the potential online news. Instead, it's because they are concerned that the internet may replace traditional media in the field of news.

Surprisingly, the findings of Nguyen's research show that traditional media still have an uphill task to tackle, provided that practitioners understand why people have turned to the internet and attempt to give them similar services.

This is of crucial importance when it comes to the future development of news on the internet.
So, the two main questions that have remained unanswered in previous research and to which An Nguyen's study aims to find an answer are:
1. How do the socio-technical benefits of news sites relate to how Internet users utilize, evaluate, and associate themselves with online news?

Methods
This article is based on the results of an Australian survey of news readers which was conducted in 2004. It included internet non-users, users who did not use online news, and also users who read news online.

If not, where will the sources for future investments in online news sources?
